Thora Birch

 Thora Birch (born March 11 1982) is an American producer and actress. Her film debut was in Purple People Eater (1988) and was the recipient of the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress Under Nine Years of age". Birch was a child-star who appeared in films such as All I Want For Christmas (1991) and the Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995), and Alaska (1996). She received a Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film brought her an BAFTA nomination. The following year, she was a part-time actress in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance as the title role in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Her other films include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009) and Petunia (2012).After having time off from acting Birch resumed her career in 2016 and has since appeared in a number of independent films. Birch was also the Whisperer Mary/Gamma in the season 10 episode of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch was Jack Birch's eldest son was born in Los Angeles. Birch is German-Jewish, Scandinavian and French-Canadian ancestry.  Her name, Thora, originates from the Norse god of thunder and lightning "Thor" that would be her name should she had been a young boy. She has a younger brother, Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are both former film actors who played in the movie Deep Throat. Because of their own experiences in the entertainment field and their own experience, they were hesitant initially to promote Thora. However, Thora's photograph was shown to agents after a babysitter spotted her fake commercials. Birch was four when she got her first major break when her babysitter took her on a audition for a Quaker Oats advertisement.
