ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she began playing soccer at the age of 14. Then she became a member of the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing in third in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to work at Diamond Bar High School, where she improved her soccer abilities. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan furthered her soccer career at UC Berkeley, where she was the captain of the California Golden Bears team in scoring right from the start of their first season. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years and also to the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first from her school to make the list of Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan completed her studies in 2010 with the third highest amount of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at both the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her studies. Morgan sustained an ACL injury during her first year at Berkeley. It prevented her from participating in U.S. women's soccer under 20 until April of 2008. In the following season Morgan scored her first goal for the international team during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also a part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which she scored four goals while earning her team the gold medal, in addition to other accolades.Morgan was then absorbed by the senior national team who she replaced and scored a number of important goals. One of these was winning goals against Italy, which earned the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team and he was the captain of the team to victory against France. Morgan, despite the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both either a goal or assist.
